Senseless crimes

Senseless crimes happen everyday and some of us do not give it a second thought...until it strikes closer to home. A friend of mine was gunned down in a senseless act of violence last week in Jamaica and it has been on my mind ever since. The outright brazenness of these so called gunmen nowadays is outright dispicable. These are the kinds of people that I dont wrong the law for shooting first and asking questions later and yes I think they deserve to die. Too often, especially here in the states, we tend to fight for "rights" of criminals, what about the rights of the innocent that are killed senselessly everyday and the innocent kids that suffer from losing a parent and left with that emotional scars for the rest of their lives. Here is the full story, I welcome your comments and feedback.

Operation Chaos, is it working or helping?

I guess we have to agree that we truly can't avoid the political banter until after November. I wanted to share some information I found about "operation chaos" spearheaded by Rush Limbaugh. A quick explanation - Limbaugh urged his conservative listeners to vote for Hillary Clinton so that the primaries could be extended, thus buying McCain time to gain momentum and further expose the frailties of the Democratic candidates. What do you think? Was it effective? Did it help, or did it hurt? An excerpt from the transcript of one of his shows follows below:

"Yes, Operation Chaos is exceeding all objectives, ladies and gentlemen. This is just amazing. I just got today's audio sound bite roster. Let me just give you the headlines here: Drive-Bys discuss Limbaugh critique of Obama. We've got an anti-Obama preacher from Harlem today. You have just got to hear this. Obama on Nightline, the candidate of race, because I said that yesterday. Deval Patrick, the governor of Massachusetts equates the Reverend J. Wright to talk radio. Feminist icon, "I will not vote with my vagina," on Hardball last night. They had a big debate over the Limbaugh Effect and Operation Chaos. Bob Schieffer has been asked about Operation Chaos and finds it fascinating. Bob Beckel has proposed a plan to counter Operation Chaos. Obama is burning cash fighting Operation Chaos. Here's the latest poll numbers. "Barack Obama's big national lead over Hillary Clinton has all but evaporated in the U.S. presidential race, and both Democrats trail Republican John McCain, according a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday. The poll showed Obama had only a statistically insignificant lead of 47 percent to 44 percent over Clinton, down sharply from a 14 point edge he held over her in February. ... The poll showed Arizona Sen. McCain, who has clinched the Republican presidential nomination, is benefiting from the lengthy campaign battle between Obama and Clinton." Well, yes, which was the primary purpose of Operation Chaos. (laughing) Folks, we are doing it! Do you realize, we are doing it! Things are happening out there on our terms. Why, this is just fabulous. "McCain leads 46 percent to 40 percent in a hypothetical matchup against Obama in the November presidential election, according to the poll. That is a sharp turnaround from the Reuters/Zogby poll from last month, which showed in a head-to-head matchup that Obama would beat McCain 47 percent to 40 percent. ... Matched up against Clinton, McCain leads 48 percent to 40 percent, narrower than his 50 to 38 percent advantage over her in February. 'It's not surprising to me that McCain's on top because there is disarray and confusion on the Democratic side,' Zogby said." Wait a minute. McCain's on top means Hillary's on bottom. We were told Hillary will never be on bottom, particularly when it comes to this dream ticket."

First Black President?

Well I had wanted to get away from the political chat but I found this article and narrative very interesting. More interestingly enough, they were both sent to me by my fellow moderator, I won't call any names..Loi...She knew that being the President of the anti-Obama movement that I would make sure that it found a home on my blog.

How long shall they kill . . .

As most of you might be aware, I lost my brother earlier this year. It was not due to old age, illness, or some natural progression in life, but he died by the hand of a lawman in Jamaica, through the improper use of lethal force. How long shall we stand by and just watch as innocent sons and daughters are gunned down by extrajudicial exercises of the law.

I am caught in a precarious place. No one can truly say that I don't know what police officers go through. I am fully aware of their challenges as I have to live with some of their fears each day. Indeed, another one of my brothers is a decorated police officer, and each day I worry and pray about his well-being. However, when will it ever be right for him to shoot an unarmed man fifty times without probable cause? When will it ever be right to shoot another human being 3 times at close range when he is still on the ground?

I have always read and even heard comments like these, but never thought I would ever be the author of one. My loss might be yours one day. In fact, it already is. You just don't realize it yet. Speak up!

Your Favorite Jamaican Foods

Lawd Jesus, I need a break from all this political mumbo jumbo. As much as Kimani loves to delve into those particular shark-infested waters I need a break.

As much of a health nut that I am, anything Jamaican is automatically exempted from my nutritional restrictions.

So here is a partial list of my favorite foods, and definitely not in any particular order. What's yours?
-Shirley Biscuits (They taste different when they're imported.)
-Patty
-Ting
-Brown Stew Chicken
-Oxtail
-Pan Chicken (preferably from Red Hills road late at night...or rather early in the morning.)
-Drops
-Asham
-Tamarind Balls (I like the Honeycomb Brand)
-Steamed Fish with Exelsior Water Crackers (Bammy is a plus!)

The Heart of the Matter

Ok, ok Mr. Kimani, we get it. You are smitten with Hillary. Personally, it's still a toss up between both candidates since I have not been convinced either way.

My scenario is this: Pretend you were Hillary's campaign manager and convince me why I should vote for your candidate and not the other.

A little p.s. for our readers...Kimani has decided to be gracious and loosen up the "blogger strings" so that MOB and I can jump into discussions and have things a little more balanced around these parts.

Thoughts

I find it interesting how I have been told that I would sell Marcus Garvey out fi rice on numerous times, been told that I would make a good house nigger and also accused of practicing reverse racism, because as a college educated black man from the islands, I chose to support Hillary over Barack because I feel she is the better candidate. Never the less I will continue my support and go up with the banners and signs of Hillary 08 in my yard, and I wish a mo'fo would try some shit. Race is undoubtedly a factor whether one believes so or not, and for those who think Mr. Obama has this victory sewn up against Hillary and John McCain, I would beg them to think again.

We need Barak

I guess I need to pen a song for Hillary Clinton, now Dancehall DJ Movado has jumped on the bandwagon to re-voice a hit towards Mr. Obama. I guess we can expect more to come, still my DJ though.
